It's been a busy scrappin' week.

First Up: I bought the felt border ages ago to do something with this picture. It is such a contrast the shade-the overexposure, the daisies and the whatever it is that looks like it could withstand a 10 year drought, the lush green and the stony sand... It was taken at San Juan Bautista. Last year when we went the gardens were beautiful, well cared for, there were fowl running all over, the brochure was free, the grass mown, the gates open. This year when we went the gardens were a mess, there was no fowl (it had been stolen), the grass hadn't been mown in ages (it was up to my waist), the brochure cost 50 cents, and the gates to many of the exhibits were locked. All this is recorded on the hidden journaling card. It's really sad and I think is a reflection of the way things are going.

Next up: I've had these pictures cropped since the first sketchgal sketch went up but there always seemed to be something better to do. If you read this, sorry Chez.
This one is a little happier. We tried the Blossom Trail last year. It was probably beautiful a week earlier. Oh well, disorganised as always.

More old pics, these are from February last year. Sid and Daddy (but you can't see him) were playing top. Sid was getting pretty good at turning the handle to wind the tops up 'till it broke. Note to self - get more tops. This one is for the current How Much is Too Much challenge.

The last one I guess should be the first one, since it is from the crop last weekend. The game was called bossy scrapper and the idea was to do exactly what the boss said. Pictures at the Roaring Camp Railway while on the steam train a couple of weeks ago. Sid wasn't nearly as excited this year. I don't know if it was because it wasn't new, Gramma was here (she's very exciting), or because we rode in one of the open cars and not under a canopy. He seemed to watch the shadows on the canopy as much as the scenery and train.

I shot a couple of really short video clips with the point and shoot while Mum was here. I really wish I had some that were longer than a minute. It would have been nice to have a camera capable of better video too. The movies are so grainy when they are enlarged. Nonetheless, he watches them over and over again and thinks it's great that Gramma reads to him.

Hope You're having a great weekend!

  1. Love your layouts - the embellishment in the last one is really cool (bossy scrapper was after my bedtime), and I really like how you tweaked the Pagemap sketch in the first one. Your story about San Juan Batista is so sad and unfortunately so common in this economy. thanks for sharing your layouts

Hearing from you makes me smile, thank you!
